About Me

Jean Yi is a VFX artist and Compositor based in Burbank, California. Her career in television animation spans over ten years and has included many projects including We Bare Bears: The Movie, Steven Universe the Movie, We Baby Bears, Adventure Time Distant Lands, Netflix’s Bojack Horseman, Craig before the Creek, Tig N’ Seek, Infinity Train, OK K.O.! Let’s be Heroes, Invincible Fight Girl, Jim Henson’s Word Party, FOX’s Axe Cop, and Neo Yokio.

Jean has worked at multiple points of the animation pipeline throughout her career, but now focuses on VFX and Compositing. She specializes in solving creative visual problems and enjoys working on a passionate team. Whether it’s quick solutions with vignettes or generating smoke and sparkles, Jean excels at visual enhancements and problem solving. Jean has often found that small additions such as camera shakes and blurs can add a lot of polish and visual interest. Whether it is patching up a small error or spicing up a fun action shot, Jean always strives to be professional and thorough.

Her graduating film “The Story of a Nice Girl” was chosen to be a part of Cartoon Brew’s Student Animation Festival. It was featured on the Cartoon Brew website and was screened at the Trickster Festival in San Diego and at The Cinefamily Theater in Los Angeles. The animated film was also a finalist of the North West Animation Festival 2012 screening along with many multi-award winning animations.
